- Tomas Baum has extensive experience as a manager in the public sector. As director of the Flemish Peace Institute, he led this institution from its foundation in 2006 up to 2018. He was previously director of the research at the International Peace Information Service (IPIS) NGO from 2004 – 2005, and taught at the University of Antwerp (2004 – 2007).
- He studied philosophy and international politics: He holds a Master in International Politics (University of Antwerp, 2003), a Master in Applied Ethics (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, 2000) and a Master in Philosophy (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, 1997). He took further studies in organisational management and dealing with polarisation.
- Tomas has worked in various policy areas, change management, project management and advisory assignments. He has engaged with various international organisations, governments, local authorities and civil society organisations, and has also written publications and given numerous lectures on ethical and political issues.
