Kazerne Dossin can count on the support of the Claims Conference (The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany) for its archival work over the coming year. Organizations such as the Claims Conference promote archive accessibility and innovative research—two cornerstone elements of Kazerne Dossin’s mission.
In many archives and museums, making valuable source material accessible often faces delays. After all, processing and cataloging documents and photographs is a labor-intensive task for which funding is frequently lacking. Thanks to the grants from the Claims Conference, we can accelerate key steps in this process.
In January 2026, Kazerne Dossin joined the Claims Conference’s ‘bundle system’. This allows the following tasks to be executed at an accelerated pace:
- Describing 60 testimonies: 60 testimonies will be made accessible through detailed biographies of the witnesses in question. These often involve untold stories of survivors (both from the camps and from hiding) who only recorded their accounts once.
- Cataloging 440 photographs and 1,500 documents: This material will be meticulously described and made available online.
- Completing lists of names: We continue our work on completing crucial lists of names of persecuted Jews in Belgium.
- Digital infrastructure & services: We are improving our systems to provide researchers and descendants with even faster and more targeted assistance.
- Sustainable preservation: Part of the budget goes directly toward physical packaging materials to conserve the original documents in the best possible conditions for the future.
Thanks to international grants of this kind, we can continue to fulfill our core mission: keeping the memory alive, fueling historical research, and assisting descendants in their search for their family history.

About the Claims Conference
Founded in 1951, the Claims Conference is a global non-profit organization that provides support regarding material claims and compensation for Holocaust survivors. In addition to individual negotiations with Germany, the organization supports Holocaust-related research, education, and documentation projects worldwide. Kazerne Dossin is deeply grateful for this structural support of our work.
