Kazerne Dossin awarded quality label by the Flemish government

08.09.2025 Museum

Kazerne Dossin has received the quality label for museums today. The label, awarded by the Flemish government, is an official recognition for museums. At Kazerne Dossin, we have been investing for years in the professional management of the collection as well as in the sustainable and high-quality functioning of the organisation. This recognition confirms that our museum meets the quality criteria set by the Flemish government.

The quality label crowns thirty years of heritage work carried out by and within Kazerne Dossin. Tracing, conserving, preserving and making pieces accessible: that is the foundation for telling our story.

Since 1999, the Flemish government has been awarding three different quality labels to cultural institutions. The label that we received at Kazerne Dossin is the quality label for museums. It acknowledges that we meet the quality standards to ensure a sustainable, professional and qualitative operation of the museum. All recognised organisations are added to the register of recognised collection-managing institutions. This register is open to everyone and allows you, as a visitor, to search for quality museums.

Recognition is granted on the basis of the collection and operations, following a thorough quality assessment by the Department of Culture and external experts. They adopt a development-oriented approach, with a view to the future growth of the organisation.

The quality label underlines that Kazerne Dossin not only safeguards a charged history, but also actively positions itself within a professional heritage field with shared standards and responsibilities. This recognition is an appreciation of the daily work of a committed team that keeps history accessible and relevant in – and for – today’s society.
