Human rights, migration, polarisation, mass violence, genocide… Kazerne Dossin’s permanent exhibition explores a wide range of themes that are also covered in various degree programmes. During a guided tour, students reflect on these issues, with the persecution of Jews, Sinti and Roma in Belgium as a case study.
The history of the Dossin barracks is placed in a broader context and there are opportunities for discussion as the guide leads students through the historical events, drawing on personal accounts and authentic sources. Connections are drawn to mechanisms of exclusion, and students are encouraged to recognise these in other contexts and within their own field of study.
